The idea started simply enough. As Michael and Kelly Oliver enjoyed their Saturday nights out without kids, they never liked the “Saturday Night Stare” routine. The stare off on who would be the designated for that night. They had heard of a service that would dispatch drivers, even used tried it themselves. From there the simple idea grew into a business plan, partnership group and soon the purchases of scooters, a floater car and an office. ScooterGuy St. Louis opened August 2008 with little fanfare.

While Kelly and Michael Oliver thought they were well prepared for this new venture, they quickly realized that the professional designated driver concept was far from a familiar idea to people. Plus the logistics could be overwhelming. Michael with 17 years of marketing experience embarked on one of his greatest challenges; build a brand while also building a identifiable demand. At the same time, Kelly with her natural welcoming personality led the client relationships and retention responsibilities.

While the use of scooters has evolved and the target audience has moved from young recent college graduates to seasoned professionals, the goal has stayed the same. They have focused on offering the highest quality, best value and most professional service available. They believe that the professional designated driver service is a true option that many people have been waiting on.

Together they were able to build this little idea into one of the largest designated driver service company in the country. ScooterGuy has taking home over 20,000 people, generated over half million dollars of revenue and employs over 30 drivers at any given time.
